Selection –The
Club’s Responsibility
There will be a Selection Committee consisting of the
Chairman of Selectors, Coach, Team and Club Captains.
Team captains will contact players to
advise if they have
been selected.
There will be 1st, 2nd 3rd and Veterans
teams.
The selection process will attempt to
be fair at all times,
balancing the good of the club with the needs of the
players If any player feels unfairly treated, then they
should speak to their captain, member of the selection
committee or club committee member. The Selection
Committee may have other factors to consider which
are unknown to individual players. Do not moan to other
players, frankness is encouraged.
The over-riding aim of the club is to
allow as many people
as possible, a game of rugby, at a level that suits them and
the club.

Selection –
Player’s Responsibility
It is the players responsibility to inform
the committee of
their availability.
Players who are not contactable during the early part of
the
week must contact a team captain. Failure to do so will
result in their place being filled by another player. Late
withdrawals will not be tolerated. New players will be
introduced at a level felt to be appropriate by the Selection
Committee. Those who have not paid their subscriptions in
accordance with club policy cannot be selected.
Teams will be selected by taking into account player
availability, commitment to training, and the opposition,
to
produce the best balanced teams to represent the club.
Captains will have the responsibility of ensuring that those
selected and those who have been dropped, are informed
as soon as possible.
Selection is a complex and time consuming task both
logistically and in satisfying the egos of those who have
been
dropped, promoted or not promoted. We will take reliability
into account in selection. We will never get selection 100%
right in everyone’s eyes, but we do try.
